Coxhill Rebel finds a cause at 5500gns

A select entry of Beef Shorthorn bulls at the May Stirling sale was topped by Coxill Rebel from L J Townsend. This son of the homebred Coxhill Lucky is out of the Glencoy Callums-sired Coxhill Flower and headed away with D J Welsh, Kilmarnock, Ayshire.

Second best at 4000gns was the champion from the pre-sale show, Camlas Ringo, from G A and H M Francis. This one is by Napoleon of Upsall and out of Camlas Lavender, herself a Tofts Atlas daughter. Buying this one was Christopher Walwin, Carluke, Lanarkshire.

And at 3800gns was Heatherbell Rollo from Messrs Ballantyne and Morrison. He’s by Knockenjig Legend and out of a Glenisla-bred dam by Millerston Jamboree. Taking him home was F Watt, East Kilbride.

A 3500gns call then secured Cowford Roulette from Thistledown Cowford Farm. This Eastmill Laird son it out of the Knockenjig Foremost daughter Cowford Janet and was knocked down to The Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness.

Average; six bulls £3815 (United Auctions).
