Beef Shorthorns peak at 5,500gns in Melton Mowbray

 

Beef Shorthorn entries peaked at 5,500gns in Melton Mowbray on Saturday 26 March at the Centre’s multi-breed pedigree sale.

 

Sale leader was the day’s champion, Hanley Parker TI +54, SRI +54, MI +26, a rising two year old dark roan bull from Daniel A Bown, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire. A Glenisla Zetor son, he sold to Boulton Bros., Northampton.

 

The female trade was led at 2,100gns by Meonhill Flossy Viola TI +39, SRI +42, MI +28, a 23 year old old roan by the 11,000gns Coldrochie Kensington. Bred by LEP Farms, Waterlooville, Hampshire, she went to AJ and CH Wright, Nottinghamshire.

 

The same vendors offered Meonhill Blythsome Jazz TI +45, SRI +49, MI +23, a two year old red and white heifer by Trunley Timber. She made 2,000gns to AS Labram, Lutterworth.

 

Averages: 3 bulls £4,165.00; 2 heifers £2,152.00
